Carriage Returns

IMAGE index42.gif

These options let you control how text in the saved Web page is reflowed. The default option is to
maintain all of the carriage returns that were in the original document and prevent the lines of text from
word wrapping to the next line. This option maintains the look of the document as closely as possible
across the widest variety of browsers.

Always
Click “Always” to maintain all the carriage returns that were in the original document. To prevent a
line from breaking in the middle and wrapping to the next line, click “And prevent word wrapping”.
This option is recommended when using “Always”, since it prevents a ragged appearance of
paragraphs. For the most realistic Web page, click both “Always” and “And prevent word wrapping”.
This is essential when using Cascading Style Sheets for page layout, as Netscape will wrap all text to
the current browser window without it.

Never
Click “Never” when you want the text to completely reflow in the web page. This may be useful if you
plan to edit the layout later and want the text to reflow to the new layout. It is not recommended when
using Cascading Style Sheets for page layout, as Netscape wraps all text (even text outside the
window) to the current browser window.

When the line is less than…
Click this setting and enter a percentage when you only want carriage returns at the end of short lines.
The assumption is that since the line was short in the original document, you don’t want text to reflow
and make the line long.

Text Options

IMAGE index44.gif

Text Options let you specify what types of text attributes you wish to maintain, and the method to
maintain them.

Font
Check this setting if you wish to maintain the font used for all text in the document. Warning: The
computer viewing the web page must have this font installed, otherwise the default font for the browser
will be displayed. Because of this, it is recommended that you only use commonly available fonts
(Times, Helvetica, Geneva, Courier, etc.) in your original documents. If you specify HTML, the font
will be specified with the FONT FACEtag. If you specify CSS, a style sheet attribute will be used. If
you specify HTML+CSS, both FONT FACE and a style sheet attribute will be used (HTML+CSS is
useful to accommodate older browsers that don’t support CSS).

Color
Check this setting to preserve the color of all text.

Point Size
Check this setting to preserve the point size of all text. If HTML method is chosen, the POINT-SIZE
HTML tag is used Note: POINT-SIZEis supported by Netscape only and is not recognized by
Internet Explorer. If CSS method is chosen, a style sheet attribute is used. All CSS-aware browsers will
support the CSS method of point size.

“FONT SIZE”
When this option is checked, GoClick will use the HTML FONT SIZEtag to output the closest size to
the text in the document. Browsers have control over the actual point size displayed in this case, so
using this option does not guarantee the same size text will appear on all browsers.

Bold, Italic, Underline
Check these settings to preserve these styles for all text. You may use either HTML or CSS to maintain
these styles, but not both. Note: Some applications (Microsoft Word, QuarkXPress) don’t print
underlined text. Instead they print a line below the text. In that case, GoClick will not convert that text
with an underline style.

Subscript/Superscript
Check these settings to preserve subscript and superscript text on a line. You may choose HTML, CSS,
or both to output the subscript and superscript text.
