Note: Table conversion is intended for use with regularly formatted tabular text only. It cannot handle arbitrary table layouts. These settings are being included for backward compatibility, but they are disabled by default. The newer and more sophisticated Multi- columnsettings do a much better job on virtually all document layouts, so it overrides the table conversion settings by default. You may still wish to use table conversion for very simple tables, but the Multi-columnconversion is recommended for most documents.

Terry Morse Myrmidon converts tables by looking just at the text. It determines that a block of text is a table by examining the number of columns the text appears to contain. Terry Morse Myrmidon sees two words or phrases on a line as belonging in separate columns if they are separated by two or more space characters (or the equivalent amount of white space in the form of tabs or other non-printing characters). For this reason,
